A friend recommended this book to me, noting information technology would be a light read and likely a good pause from all the mystery, suspense, murder and thrillers I more often than not choose. He was right, a definitely a light 1, just I'1000 on the contend on how much I enjoyed information technology. I rated it a three because the sections I loved, I loved. But the sections I did not dearest, I did not love!

I'm a huge Betty White fan and find myself on the lookout for anything new she stars in. I knew a lot about her career for the last 35+ years when I was alive to lookout man information technology only little about anything earlier virtually 1980. I had hoped I'd learn a lot but likewise enjoy what I was reading. Unfortunately, it's very fact-based and felt more than like a list of things that she did rather than taking me on the journey of her life. I wanted to meet more about her childhood (connections to Boob tube), a chapter on each major Tv set show or series she did, a section on her concern and personal relationships thru the Television receiver feel, et al. Instead, information technology felt a chip disorganized and jumped effectually a lot. Information technology wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting and not my favorite style.

With that said, once she got to the shows I watched, it was much more enjoyable. I learned a few things and felt even more continued. I skimmed the parts I didn't know much about or care much for simply read with clear focus on the ones that spoke to me. And it worked out... equally I write this, I experience similar my review is a little disorganized like the book felt. Totally intended that way... Ha!

To me this volume felt like when you're a young child and your grandparent is telling you stories and you're thinking "Brand information technology Finish" and bored to death.

( Now that I've lost 3 out of 4 of my grandparents I sure do wish that I paid WAY more attending.)

Wow -- if I thought I liked Betty White before, I'grand now in love with her. This autobiography reads like a conversation -- only equally I imagined Betty to write and to be. I hateful, I felt similar i was talking to my grandmother, my great aunt, and my best friend all rolled into 1.

Her sense of humor, positivity, and effervescence radiates throughout the unabridged book.

I couldn't put it downwards -- in fact, I read all but 40 pages in a weekend of travel.

I didn't like this book equally much every bit I thought I would. This book is more of a chronology of her work in boob tube (which the title very manifestly states). I judge I simply expected a little more of her sassy personality to come through - but I found the read to be more often than not proper noun dropping accompanied by some pictures. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I would merely recommend this book if someone was genuinely interested in hearing about every single project she worked on 'back in the solar day' and wi I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. This volume is more than of a chronology of her work in television set (which the title very obviously states). I judge I but expected a little more of her sassy personality to come up through - just I found the read to exist generally name dropping accompanied by some pictures. I guess you never looked at age as anything but a random number, and see how beautifully it worked out. 99 years of pure unadulterated joy!

You always used to call yourself the "lucky old wide" - No Betty, we are the lucky ones!! From Dear Ruth in the 30s, to Hollywood on Tv set in the 40s, to Life with Elizabeth in the 50s, to the Tonight Evidence with Jack Paar and Password in the 60s, to the The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 70s, to The Gold Girls in the 80s. This book stops at 1994 when you wrote information technology, but practise you know that you kept going with The Ladies Human in the 90s to the The Proposal and Boston Legal in the 00s, and Hot in Cleveland in the 10s. I am gasping for breath while just typing this - yous did all this, every single decade for the last nine of them!!

Give thanks you lot for being the first adult female to make waves in front and behind the camera in America, thanks for continuing up for racial equality without caring for how that may affect your career when the bigwigs of your network showed their true colors, thank y'all for being relentless in your pursuits for animal welfare and coming with shows surrounding animals when no one cared. I know, your four-legged friends miss yous more than anyone of united states of america ever could.

You are in The Guinness Volume of World Records, but you are as well in the hearts of people from absolutely all generations. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Betty White is an amazing lady! I already idea she was but this book confirmed it! I honey her writing fashion. Betty White has been an ever-present role of my television viewing pleasance for the majority of my life. I can think spending weekends at my Grandmother's house watching first-run episodes of The Aureate Girls on Saturday nights. While I was too young to fully appreciate the prove as a five-yr former, I was reintroduced to the seemingly timeless comedy in college when reruns were shown on the Lifetime network. I tin can remember spending weekends at my Grandmother'due south house watching beginning-run episodes of The Golden Girls on Saturday nights. 60 years after beginning her career, White is still enjoying a successful career. In her 80s now, White continues to play in memorable roles such as Grandma Annie in The Proposal and Grandma Bunny in You, Once again (which, as a side note, is a moving picture that gets better with additional viewings). She is also still doing situational comedy, playing Elka on the show Hot In Cleveland Through these roles, White is introducing herself to entirely new generations.

The fact that White has been able to stay relevant throughout all of these years is truly astonishing. It is hard to think there could ever be another actor or actress that could replicate her long-lasting, successful, and impactful career. Moreover, her passion for all of her endeavors – from interim to animal rights – is inspiring. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of White's and/or want a prime number case on how ane should ideally live life. While White has had her ups and downs in her life (everyone has) she never lost her optimistic spirit or her zest for living. We should all be so lucky.

I learned so much about Betty from reading this book. I knew she had been effectually showbiz forever, but had no idea what a true pioneer of television she really is.
I also learned things nigh her love life that I had no idea most. Not that I was supposed to know such intimate details, but it was countenance raising information.

This was a fun read! Betty White is such a witty, cheerful and hard-working person! Information technology was fun to acquire almost her experiences with television over many decades and meet how the concern has changed through her eyes. She is such a charismatic person, and the book made me desire to sentinel more of her shows other than Golden Girls!

I listened to this book narrated by Betty herself and I absolutely adored it! A perfect alloy between her career in television and her private life, it really helped me through a tough fourth dimension. To hear that such a fable had been married iii times, twice earlier finding the love of her life gave me promise, just as much as her choices to get a divorce from a married man who didn't agreed nor supported her having a career and not to take children.
I accept ever loved Betty White. After this book, I adore I listened to this book narrated past Betty herself and I absolutely adored it! A perfect alloy between her career in television receiver and her individual life, it actually helped me through a tough time. I'm totally biased and I admire Betty White. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed this book as much if it weren't written by Betty. At first I wasn't sure if I'd relish it equally I am not excited by the history and development of boob tube. However, this history and evolution of television grew on me rapidly. Information technology's a quick and light read or listen if you desire to hear it narrated by Betty herself. I truly honey Betty's spirit and this really captures it beautifully.

Although I must admit her story is interesting. She is an incredible adult female and I adore her even more after listening to this. I enjoyed her perspective on prove business. Especially her before years in it. It is a bit sporadic and doesn't follow much of an like shooting fish in a barrel continuum of events. While not then much humorous, it is yet easy to enjoy Betty's wit and piece of cake banter. I I was honestly hoping for a scrap more humor in this. While information technology is in that location, it is very toned downwardly from what I'd look from Betty White. Although I must acknowledge her story is interesting. The early years of her career were a little over my head as I didn't know of her until the 90s watching reruns of The Aureate Girls with my mom. Even though many names, events, lists of shows and accomplishments were unfamiliar, information technology was truly interesting to hear her business relationship and her enthusiasm regarding Television (and her beloved for animals)!!

I'd recommend this for those who enjoy memoirs and of grade for fans of Betty White. The world feels a petty dimmer at present that she'southward passed on. Allow's promise her memory continues to live on.

I was gifted this volume years ago, put off reading it, and I have no thought why. This volume was simply as delightful every bit one would expect. I greatly admire Betty White and take for a long time. I enjoyed learning most her life, her professional experiences, as well every bit her important contributions to the television industry.

This was a quick listen via audio by none other than Betty, herself. I loved the audio version because it gave you lot the way she wanted it to exist heard. She was still witty throughout. I liked that it spoke about different aspects of her life and the choice not to have children of her ain.
The simply role that bothered me was the catastrophe. It ended as well abruptly.
I will be reading another. Male child, Betty volition be missed!

This volume I actually did relish more than the other volume I read. I loved how information technology went more in depth with Betty.

I listened to the audiobook, and I believe that I enjoyed it since Ms. White read it. If I had read it myself, I don't know if I would've liked information technology as much (probably 3 stars). If you're interested in fiddling bits of television history and are not familiar with Ms. White until she showed up on Golden Girls, and so this book might be worth your fourth dimension. She does shed lite on snippets of her personal life but, as the title says, it's 99% about her goggle box career. I listened to the audiobook, and I believe that I enjoyed it since Ms. White read it. If I had read it myself, I don't know if I would've liked it as much (probably 3 stars). If you're interested in little bits of television history and are non familiar with Ms. White until she showed up on Golden Girls, then this book might be worth your time. I've enjoyed and admired the person from my earliest days of watching her on games shows such every bit Countersign and Match Game, and first every bit Sue Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Evidence and Ballad Burnett. I've watched her career my entire life, and always made certain I watched interviews she conducted or special appearances on the talk show circuit.

Given all that,

Given all that, I was surprised at how much of her personal and professional person life I didn't know, particularly in the early days of radio and television. Betty doesn't encompass whatever field of study in deep item throughout this book, it is serving more as cursory notices over a timeline. I would have loved a book that focused deeply into ane decade for example, or her radio days, or the early shows she hosted, merely this serves as a great overall sense of the variety and depth of her career.
